We need to talk about the economy

Hi I'm creating this post to discuss the server economy, I think a lot of people have no idea how an economy works. It's simple: dp inflates all items in the game. I believe that if you are donating to the server, it is not just to help you keep online. Do you most often want to sell your dp to get items, right? So if you sell your dp at an absurd price, you influence others to sell as well because nobody wants to lose. The point is that if you sell expensive you will pay dearly too. The price of dp will not rise and the rest will remain the same. Many may not agree with this but I find it necessary to create the post and try a debate.

honestly it all started when a hacker gave everyone legit tons and tons of NX and items were being passed around like crazy, Staff didn't do shit, no reverts nothing. IF they actually did something the economy right now would be really nice but yeah

Me and op had a talk in game. He's not that far off from the truth. Some pros sold their old nx for Dp, a shit ton I might add, creating the illusion nobody is donating. When people think the server is dying due to scarcity in Dp they raise price of everything. Tldr everyone thinks the server is on its last legs.

Currently, the power in the DP market is on the supply. Demand exceeds the supply and the seller can practically choose the price to maximize gain and this is normal as no human wants to take a loss. So the only way for it to deflate is for everything else to drop FIRST so that demand for DP goes down to match the given supply then you can have a healthy equilibrium with flexible price. Unfortunately, the design behind DP pretty much guarantees this doesn't happen so I don't think much can be done unless someone buys a shit ton of DP and sells at an incredible loss for a long time.

Price of DP will rise as it is the most sought after currency as shown by the very high demand and somewhat limited supply and is required for many of the end game progression.

Why bother selling anything if prices will go up like 20-30% in couple weeks?
Example. I bought SWS for around 15k dp 6 weeks ago. Now it's selling around 30k dp.
Why would I bother selling SWS if I can just sit on my ass on watch it go up and up

The only reason I wouldn't save valuable items is if I need to use them or sell to buy something else. Otherwise Item>Meso.

Your example doesnt really show anything anything other than inflation of a price. You obtained that 15k DP by selling things. If you were to sell those same things in our current economy you would acquire the 30k DP in the same time frame.
