First of all, hello everyone, I'd like to say that I'm not even sure these things can be implemented, I'll leave that to the staff.

Map Owner

Since the beginning of this game we all had to deal with people killing stealing, coming into our maps, and just started spamming skills like crazy.
As a new player, trying to farm meso bags in Ulu, I have to deal with 100% full maps all the time, and when I finally manage to find a map, some bot will join in, not write anything at all, or if its an advanced bot it'll replay "?" and just start kill stealing the entire map without holding back.

Also, regarding kill stealing (KS), today I finally found a map to farm at Ulu, some guy called "fwineet" just comes in, starts killing everything, I tell him to cc, he doesn't even respond, just keeps on killing, I try to report him, and it replies to me "Can't report the player at this time"...

Now as for the fixing, the implementation of "Map Owner" or "Map Owning" if you'd like, is the first come first serve solution.
The first person on the map will be crowned the map owner until he leaves, and will give him the ability to block damage entirely on anyone coming after him and start ksing the map under certain circumstances!
Now for this to not be abused by someone who justs afk on map, map owner will not be triggered automatically, at any situation it will have to be triggered manually and for a certain amount of time.

Example to how this would work: Let's say I'm farming @ Elite golems, somebody comes in and starts killing on my map > I can block their damage by writing @mapblock "Name", and they will be blocked for 15 minutes on this specific map, in this specific channel.

Also, to increase restrictions on this feature, and not to not abuse it for example by blocking a Kanna who just used teleport across the map just to CC, a simple time requirement could be implemented (Cannot block a player before 30 seconds have passed)

This idea is a work-in-progress and is definitely not complete, and I'd love to hear any suggestions regarding it.

Bots & 3rd party programms.

So as for bots, like I've mentioned before with my Ulu farming, this has to stop... Bots ruin economies and servers and should be taken seriously and with priority.
As someone who hosted a server for a different game and had this problem, BOTS RUIN SERVERS AND EVENTUALLY EAT THEM OUT.
While this is less likely with this server, as its big and very attractive (I'm a new player, and I find it incredibly fun) it should still be dealed with.

A simple fix for this would be Captcha pop ups after 15 or 30 minutes of farming to not be too annoying.
Example for this would be a pop up window, where you have to either click a simple answer to a question like "Click all the boss monsters" with 6 options (3 of them will be bosses & the other 3 will be snails/mushrooms/whatever).

To increase effectiveness on this feature, players will have 1 minute to answer the question, if the question is not answered correctly within this time, the player will be teleported to the nearest town and logged off from the game.
And to further increase effectiveness, after logging back in to the game, the captcha will STILL BE UP UNTIL ANSWERED.

That's it for today, would love to hear your opinions on anything regarding the matter.

I am not sure of the map owner command thingy, does not sound appealing to me.

I love the captcha suggestion especially the "after logging back in to the game, the captcha will STILL BE UP UNTIL ANSWERED"

A map command has already been approved and is being worked on according to @Elyx . You can see that thread here. Your idea of being able to block damage as map owner, while seemingly creative in my opinion, may also be a bit too extreme. Implementation may be difficult, and I can imagine there being bugs (I am not commenting on the staff's ability to code, rather it's not difficult to see threads popping up in forum titled "Help Can't Do Damage!!" should this be implemented.) I suppose someone else would be more qualified to speak on whether or not this idea is possible.

As for captcha pop ups, I believe those are already implemented and triggered when certain conditions are met. I'm not a fan of subjecting the entire population to captcha pop ups, no matter how far apart they are. It will just be an annoyance and create frustration among the legit players.

I agree that bots kill games and are a problem in Aries, and better solutions need to be worked on to solve this issue. At this point I'd prefer game updates be put on hold in order for the botting problem to be worked on (if that even helps.) However, as everything, it's certainly not as straightforward as more attention and manpower.

I'm sorry to say that this method would not work very well for reasons I (probably) cannot disclose from my experience working as a CM previously. It would not do anything to change the botting issue since similar measures are already being taken and has done little to reduce the problem.

Thank you for your reply! May I ask what's not appealing about it?

Thank you for your reply! First off, the @map idea you mentioned pretty much covers what I wanted to have in the server, so I'll add that to my post.

As for the damage block, I'd like to note that most of the time kill stealers will not get reported due to laziness or people just moving on to another channel or map. Furthermore, bans take time that could otherwise be spent for future updates like you mentioned.
In my opinion, a player ban after a week he has ksed people is not comforting, it doesn't server its purpose, again, in my own opinion.

There needs to be a more immediate solution to this problem, due prevent KSing entirely, and not only after reporting people and waiting for the banhammer to land.

I have played another server in which a map owner could literally put the "block melee/magical damage" buff on all monsters, and they will only die to his/her damage. All other players will hit 1's.

As for the captcha, I agree with you, my idea isn't appealing to the legit players out there, captcha will just bother us, but I'm willing to sacrifice annoyance once every 30 minutes to have a bot-free server. As for the measures being taken right now under certain circumstances, I'd love to know if there's a thread in the forum covering it (Just for knowledge).

I'm sorry to say that this method would not work very well for reasons I (probably) cannot disclose from my experience working as a CM previously. It would not do anything to change the botting issue since similar measures are already being taken and has done little to reduce the problem.

Thank you for your reply! I'd like to note that AriesMS is in my opinion, the best server out there right now and I've seen much, much less populated servers with a lot lower rank on gtop100 able to implement these kind of features and block bots almost entirely.

Like I said before, the idea is nowhere near perfect, this is just brain storming on how to stop bots. Even if this thread triggers another idea, similar to this, and it'll eventually be implemented, I'll be glad - so again, any input on this will be appreciated!
