Methods you have tried: website, and in game change PIC option.
Additional remarks: i left for a long time, now the game tells me i need to change my pic. It keeps telling me wrong PIC. i have tried the one the Emailed to me from the website. doesn't work either.

Follow these steps in order

• Shut down Aries (or go to world select)
• Request a PIC reset on the website
• Launch the game (or go back to character select)
• When it asks if you'd like to change your PIC select `Yes` and type the PIC we sent you first then the PIC of your choice.

If you remember your old PIC then you can select change PIC on the left side of your screen on character select.
