I'm not sure if this bothers anyone else, but it seems a bit absurd how difficult it is to get Totems on Aries. I know they don't add a whole lot, not being enhanceable, but seeing those empty equip spaces when you're trying to squeeze a bit more range in is kind of disappointing. I've seen all of 1 totem on the auction house, and it was going for 30B. As far as I can tell, there are only 2 ways to get totems on Aries: Red Leaf High, and Yu Garden, both of which have major drawbacks. (If there are other ways to get totems, please disregard this as uninformed.)
Red Leaf High is only open on special occasions/events, and is closed the majority of the time, meaning most people can't get the RLH Totems.
Yu Garden isn't particularly difficult, but the fact that the totems expire quickly makes them impractical, as you have to keep going back to farm the items for them.
I'd like to toss out some ideas on how this could be changed, and have people toss out their own.
(Note that I understand these suggestions aren't perfect and that each has its own flaws that may make it not be feasible. I also wouldn't suggest implementing more than 1 of these ideas.)
1. Make the Yu Garden totems permanent, or extend their expiration date by a huge amount, so that they don't have to be farmed constantly.
Pros: Easy fix. No need to change existing content besides those 3 items. Easy access for players.
Cons: Might mess with the economy and grinding if the items are tradeable. Yu Garden might become a crowded area.
2. Open RLH more often and/or keep it open longer.
Pros: Easy fix. No change to content.
Cons: No longer a special event. People who worked hard to get the totems previously may feel cheated.
3. Add totems to a shop(s), like Vote, Achievement, Reward, etc etc.
Pros: Encourages players to grind the coins/points for whatever shop is chosen.
Cons: May make the meso price of those coins/points skyrocket, at least in the short term.
4. Open alternate ways of getting lesser totems. In GMS, you can get some lesser totems through quest lines or a select few bosses that aren't available in Aries. Examples: The Afterlands theme dungeon/quest line, the Shaolin Temple boss (not actually sure if this does/doesn't drop in Aries, only killed it a few times, but it dropped nothing.), etc.
Pros: Encourages people to do some alternate quest lines/bosses that they would normally skip. Open to all players willing to do the quest lines.
Cons: More content to add, and some of it (Afterlands), has been a hot mess of bugs historically.
So, thoughts?
